With wonder and thanks

"Thirty-eight sleeps!" There's something in the air, something special. It's kind of like counting down the days 'til Christmas, only the gift of marriage can be joyfully received every day following this tremendous "I do" day

Of course, it may take more effort on some mornings than others to awaken our hearts to humble gratitude and acceptance of each other, rather than giving into our natural urge to always want something new, exciting, & ridiculously easy.

We will be responsible for letting go of unrealistic expectations, growing in the grace of receiving each other and each situation with thanks.

It's hard to imagine what our shared life will be together, but I am so grateful for this glorious upheaval, this arduous but amazingly rewarding journey.

There will be lots to learn, to admit, to give up, to forgive. There may be days when we wonder if we have it in us to choose gratitude over grumbling, contentment rather than always checking out the grass just over the fence. Perhaps we don't have what it takes to be the person we'd like to offer our spouse, our friend, our family.

However, because of the Lord Jesus, we can acknowledge our self-focused tendencies and selfish ambitions to God (and to each other), and then whole-heartedly purpose to turn from what we know to be false and empty ways of thinking, talking to each other, and acting.

With His forgiveness fresh on our faces, like morning dew, we can face each other with the same respect, offering peace instead of bitterness - hope, despite our known weaknesses. We are His! He will continue to mold and soften us according to His purposes, all throughout our lives.

What hope we have in Jesus! And what a joy it is to be united on this road with Philipp, whose heart I trust and whose hand I hold with confidence, thankfulness, and wonder.

Thank you for all of your support! Our steps are surer for knowing your example, our hearts calmer for hearing your encouragement. Meanwhile, we embrace today with gratitude and dependency upon the Lord for this journey ahead!

***Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.*** (Ephesians chapter five, verses 19-21)
